Coffee Grind Guide: Whole Bean, Coarse, Standard, and Espresso

The right grind helps water extract coffee evenly. When shopping Co-Pilot Coffee, check the choices on each product page: many bags offer whole bean and several ground options, while some coffees have fewer choices.

Whole bean

Choose whole bean if you own a grinder and want to adjust the grind for different brewing methods. Grind shortly before brewing for the best control over your cup.

Coarse grind

Coarse grounds are commonly used for French press and cold brew. If you want a coffee designed for a chilled drink, explore our dark cold brew coffee or medium cold brew coffee; check each product's available grind options.

Standard grind

Standard ground coffee is a convenient starting point for many drip coffee makers. Your brewer's instructions can help you fine-tune the setting if you grind at home.

Espresso grind

Espresso typically uses a finer grind and a shorter brew time. Your machine may require adjustment to get the result you like. Browse blends such as 6 Bean Blend or African Espresso, then select an available espresso option on the product page.

Choose the coffee first, then confirm the grind

Compare blends, single-origin coffees, and flavored coffee. Use the roast and tasting notes to find a flavor you like, then choose the grind and bag size shown on that listing. For more help, see our coffee buying guide and FAQ.
